Virtual Walk to End Lupus Now South Jersey 2021

Team Mon Mon

In 2018, my wife Monica and I were expecting our second child together. Unfortunately, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage midway through the pregnancy.

In 2019, my wife and I were expecting again. This time, it was double trouble because we were expecting Twins! The happiness that we felt would be the guiding light through a very nerve wrecking pregnancy. During the initial doctors appointments for the pregnancy, my wife disclosed to the doctors that she had suffered a second trimester miscarriage the year prior. This led the doctors to run more in depth tests. During these tests, the bloodwork revealed that there were lupus antibodies and so our journey began.

On March 18th, 2020, my wife safely and successfully delivered our twin boys. Post pregnancy, the symptoms that come with lupus became more apparent in my wife’s day to day activities. Symptoms such as joint pain, flare ups, and extreme fatigue. Still, my wife did not and does not let these symptoms interfere with her career, her marriage, and above all, her children.

My family and I are dedicated to bringing awareness to this disease with the hopes that more effective treatments and even a cure can be found in the future. Until then, we will advocate and bring awareness to this disease known as lupus.

I’m joining the Virtual Walk to End Lupus Now South Jersey on October 16, 2021!

The money I raise helps the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter in their mission to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy. This is especially supportive for the 45,000+ individuals living with the challenges of lupus in the Philadelphia Tri-State area.

Together, we are making an impact today to fulfill the needs of people affected by lupus, while creating a better future for them and future generations.
