The Lupus Walk is coming up soon and your support is needed for families like mine. Both Kayla and myself have Lupus and I also suffer from many other autoimmune diseases and disorders. Some are able to be managed with medication but others not so much. Most of you know that I was also diagnosed with Acute Kidney Failure last year after a horrible month of Norovirus and being in the hospital for a week. Dialysis, medications and almost a year later and I'm still not right. Lupus is the underlying factor in this and most of my issues. But enough about me, what I find absolutely amazing is that Kayla Uretsky was able to keep up with her rigorous coursework, undergraduate teaching, undergraduate research and still graduate on time with her Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, without completely breaking down. Don't get me wrong, she definitely had her share of trips to the University Health Center, urgent care, hospital, and doctor visits, but her boyfriend, Jon, roommates Kasie and Hannah, certainly helped pull her through. It takes a village as they say. Kayla is now in her last semester of Graduate School and will be beginning her teaching career in the Fall 2020, in North Carolina. We are so proud of her and what she has accomplished. Just to give you an idea on just how special she is, Kayla landed her first job offer, off of her first interview and they couldn't be happier.
Any amount that you can donate will be so appreciated. Please donate so we can put an end to this monster of a disease once and for all.
Thank you, be well and stay healthy!

You can make a difference in the continued effort to find the causes of and cure for lupus through locally funded research and advocacy efforts.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can affect any part of the body (ex. skin, joints, internal organs). Lupus is a disease of flares and remission – making life with lupus very unpredictable. You can click on the Chapter Home link above to find more information on lupus and how you can help us solve the cruel mystery.
Your generosity can help us support thousands affected by lupus, who rely on us to provide critical answers to questions as well as caring support. Your donation would also help accelerate our medical research efforts which seek to bring new advances to people sooner rather than later. Whether it is the individual living with lupus or those at risk, family members, or health professionals, you help provide the tools needed to navigate the complexities and challenges of this disease.
Together, we are making an impact today to fulfill the needs of people affected by lupus, while creating a better future for them and future generations.
