Welcome to My Personal Page
I’m joining the Virtual Walk to End Lupus Now South Jersey on October 16, 2021!
I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2017. It was very hard for me to hear those words from my doctor..."You have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)", but I had a feeling it would surface one day because I had health issues for years and Lupus runs in my family.
In 1998, my aunt, Liz Sykes, passed away from kidney & heart complications due to Lupus. She was only 45 yrs old. She had a kidney transplant, too, graciously given to her by our cousin, Tom Sykes. This transplant extended her life by a few years but in the end, Lupus took my Aunt Liz from all of us.
My cousin, Cynthia Gregory, suffers from this debilitating disease. My friend from high school, Elizabeth Paxton Weekes, has Lupus. I have other family members and friends who have Lupus, too.
I am walking as a memorial to my Aunt Liz, to honor my Cousin Cindy and my friend Elizabeth, for myself and everyone else who suffers from this terrible autoimmune disease. I ask my friends and family to please join and/or support my team this year in Ocean City on Sunday, May 15th.
The money I raise helps the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter in their mission to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy. This is especially supportive for the 45,000+ individuals living with the challenges of lupus in the Philadelphia Tri-State area.
You can make a difference in the continued effort to find the causes of and cure for lupus through locally funded research and advocacy efforts. Click on the Chapter Home link above to find more information on lupus and how you can help us solve the cruel mystery of lupus.
Together, we are making an impact today to fulfill the needs of people affected by lupus, while creating a better future for them and future generations.
Please support me for the Walk to End Lupus Now by making a 100% tax deductible donation! Click "Donate Now" on this page. Thank you!
