My Lupus Story
I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus 19 years ago. I had never heard of it before. Neither did anyone I knew. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects all parts of the body. It tricks the immune system into thinking the body is a pathogen that needs to be attacked. It is a disease of unpredictable flares and remission cycles. More than half of my life has been spent dealing with an illness no one can "see." There is no cure for Lupus; but rather it is a balancing act of a handful of medications taken daily. I share a brief part of my story to ask for your kindess and support.
Since my diagnosis in 2000, my family and I have been Looping for Love as part of the annual Lupus walk for the Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America. Together again we are taking part in the 28th Annual Lupus Loop 5K Run and 2.5 Mile Walk to End Lupus Now® on October 27th, 2019 in Philadelphia, PA.
You can make a difference in the continued effort to find the causes of and cure for lupus through locally funded research and advocacy efforts.
Your generosity can help us support thousands affected by lupus, who rely on us to provide critical answers to questions as well as caring support. Your donation would also help accelerate our medical research efforts which seek to bring new advances to people sooner rather than later. Whether it is the individual living with lupus or those at risk, family members, or health professionals, you help provide the tools needed to navigate the complexities and challenges of this disease.
Together, we are making an impact today to fulfill the needs of people affected by lupus, while creating a better future in Lupus research.
Please support me in my fundraising efforts for the 28th Annual Lupus Loop! All donations are 100% tax deductible. Click "Donate Now" to make an online donation. Thank you for Looping for Love!
