Pam's Lupus Journey
It never occured to me that one day I would wake up sick and never get better.
I was diagnosed with Lupus in August 2015. I was actually very lucky to be diagnosed rather quickly. It takes the average person 6 years to be diagnosed! After abnormal bloodwork results, I was referred to a rheumatologist for more bloodwork and lots of tests. That's when I was diagnosed with Lupus, Sjogrens disease and Reynauds. It's not unusual to have all three. They are complimentary diseases. I went through the normal stages of grief. When I got to acceptance, I knew it was time to fight with everything I have! I may have Lupus, but it doesn't have me. I fight for myself. I fight for my family. And I fight for those who can not fight for themselves. This is why I’m taking part in the 31st Annual Lupus Loop 5K Run and 2.5 Mile Walk to End Lupus Now® on October 30th, 2022 in Philadelphia, PA. I urge everyone to join me and discover the power you have to help end lupus!
The money we raise helps sustain the support programs and services of the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter that help the more than 40,000 individuals living with the challenges of lupus in the Philadelphia Tri-State area.
You can make a difference in the continued effort to find the causes of and cure for lupus through locally funded research and advocacy efforts.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can affect any part of the body (ex. skin, joints, internal organs). Lupus is a disease of flares and remission – making life with lupus very unpredictable. You can click on the Chapter Home link above to find more information on lupus and how you can help us solve the cruel mystery.
Your generosity can help us support thousands affected by lupus, who rely on us to provide critical answers to questions as well as caring support. Your donation would also help accelerate our medical research efforts which seek to bring new advances to people sooner rather than later. Whether it is the individual living with lupus or those at risk, family members, or health professionals, you help provide the tools needed to navigate the complexities and challenges of this disease.
Together, we are making an impact today to fulfill the needs of people affected by lupus, while creating a better future for them and future generations.
Please support me in my fundraising efforts for the 31st Annual Lupus Loop! All donations are 100% tax deductible. Click "Donate Now" to make an online donation.
